the difference
2004-11-11 - 8:00 p.m.

I've realized that trying to be different is hopeless. So many people try so hard to be different. But in the end they wind up being the same as everyone else.

Since when is "different" adopting the same scene cut you saw in Nylon or making your own clothing that you bit off of someone's crafts.com project?

And for those who think yelling "CHEEEESE" or trying to act weird and crazy by mingling different words and cutely referring to different sexual acts...what the fuck is that? They think they're being truly original, but go to any old other punk rock kid's xanga site and there you are.

Don't try being different by making yourself an intellectual and prattling about Nietzcheism...not only will you be an asshole, you'll be a difficult to understand asshole. In the end nobody will be able to catch up with you so you'll have to flock with 'transcendental' idiots just like you to be able to prattle. But it won't be so you can hear their ideas and think about them. All these people ever do is talk the whole time and when they're not talking, they're thinking about what they're going to say next and just waiting their turn to speak.

No matter what, nobody's trying to be different. Everyone wants to company of somebody else. No matter how different you try to be, you'll always have said the same thing or be wearing the same outfit as at least a million
other people out there and you'll always gravitate towards those million people (who will understand you, even though you think no-one understands you) and you'll always be the same.

The best you can do is be yourself and hope for the best. And that's my goal.

make yourself, damn it.
